The National Park Service is inviting visitors of any age to celebrate their 100th birthday at Dinosaur National Monument, just in time for the annual Skies over Dinosaur Astronomy Festival.

“We are really looking forward to celebrating with the NPS this weekend,” said Lesha Coltharp, Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director. “Getting outside and enjoying our incredible earth is such a great mission to stand behind and get excited about.”

Here’s what visitors can expect in Dinosaurland this weekend:

No fees

The NPS celebration means waived fees into any of the national parks or monuments from August 25-28.

Birthday cake

A special centennial ranger talk titled Our National Parks will be held at the Quarry Visitor Center at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 25. Following the presentation at 1:45 pm, birthday cake will be served.

Skies Over Dinosaur Astronomy Festival

From August 24-28, visitors are invited to see the stars from the Dinosaur National Monument with a number of presentations, programs and stargazing with telescopes. This event is great for kids as craft activities and Junior Night Explorer Books will also be available.

“This annual astronomy festival is one of our favorite local events,” Coltharp said. “It’s a great opportunity for visitors to use telescopes and see the night sky from a new perspective. For many people, this isn’t something you get to do very often.”
