Utah is owning its JELL-O obsession to advance a cure for a rare blood cancer called multiple myeloma (the same cancer that Tom Brokaw has). The CrowdCare Foundation is hosting the first annual Utah JELL-O 5K Run & Fun in celebration of Utah’s unofficial state snack to fund cancer research. The event will include a family-friendly 5K run, jiggler obstacle course, JELL-O crafts for kids, and a “gelatin” pad participants can walk, dance or run on.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Vineyard Beach, Utah (by Utah Lake). The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and on-site early registration is open at 7:30 a.m. Race fees are $35 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Obstacle course fees are $15 and are divided into time segments by age. Shirts are guaranteed for registrations before May 6. For more details and registration, go to www.utahjellorun.com.

The event will also host the first annual JELL-O® Gelatin Art Contest, offering two $1,000 prizes for the top JELL-O King and Queen entries and a year’s supply of JELL-O® Gelatin.

“Utahns are serious about their JELL-O,” says Jenny Ahlstrom, president of the CrowdCare Foundation. “This is a fun way to own the Utah obsession and help raise funds for leading-edge cancer research.”  Jenny is a Utah resident and multiple myeloma cancer patient who founded the CrowdCare Foundation to help support patients with rare and terminal cancers and other diseases. For patients with these diseases, research funding is minimal but the need to advance cures is urgent.
