HSU and PetSmart find homes for pets during shelter closure.
The Humane Society of Utah (HSU) announced its Dog Days (and cats) of Summer Super Adoption Event June 16-18 hosted at PetSmart located at 1830 S. 389 W. Salt Lake City, Utah. HSU dogs and cats are available for adoption Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. while the Humane Society of Utah adoption center is closed for their 5th Annual Wags to Wishes Gala. More than 70 dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and rabbits will be available at this PetSmart location. All animals available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and have their first set of vaccinations. On Saturday, adoption fees are reduced to $50 for dogs, puppies and kittens. Rabbits and adult cats seven months and older are $10. Regular adoption fees apply on June 16 and 18.
“Since our adoption center will be closed Saturday for our gala fundraiser, we don’t want to miss the opportunity for any of our pets to be adopted,” said Jamie Usry, HSU director of development. “We’re discounting adoption fees to compensate for any inconvenience caused during our event and hope it encourages adoptions so that every animal brought to PetSmart finds a home.”
HSU adoption counselors are on location at PetSmart to help adopters find the right pet.
The Humane Society of Utah clinic, foster care and receiving departments will be open Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As a private nonprofit organization dependent on donations and support from the community, the Wags to Wishes Gala is on of the largest fundraisers for the Humane Society of Utah.
