International “Take Your Child to the Library Day” Celebrated at the County Library

0

The County Library is inviting children, families and caregivers to visit their neighborhood branch on February 4 in celebration of International Take Your Child to the Library Day.

Public libraries provide valuable free early and lifelong learning opportunities for children, teens, adults and families of all ages and abilities. Take Your Child to the Library Day is an international initiative to raise community awareness about the important role libraries play in children’s lives and to introduce or reintroduce the public to the many library programs and services available to them.

Children who visit the County Library on February 4 will receive a sticker, a high five, coloring sheets, and a bookmark. Storytimes will be offered at the following times and locations:

10 a.m. – Columbus Branch
10:30 a.m. – Herriman Branch
10:30 a.m. – Magna Branch
11 a.m. – Millcreek Branch
Noon – West Jordan Branch
1 p.m. – Holladay Branch
2 p.m. – Whitmore Branch
3 p.m. – Kearns Branch
4 p.m. – South Jordan Branch
5 p.m. – Millcreek Branch

In addition to our librarians telling stories, we’ve lined up a few local leaders – to include Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams – to read stories to our amazing County kids. Mayor McAdams will be leading the storytime at the Columbus Branch in South Salt Lake at 10 am. Follow and share the celebration online: #TakeYourChildToTheLibraryDay.
