Local Ronald McDonald House to receive a portion of the proceeds.
The sky will be painted gold when The Lantern Fest comes to Salt Lake City. On September 12, thousands of participants will gather at Seabase to gaze upwards as Chinese lanterns fill the sky. With live music, dancing, s’mores, and giveaways throughout the night, this family event promises to appeal to those of all ages.
“People will come from all over the state to celebrate a milestone, remember a loved one or just to snap some pictures for Instagram while marveling at this unforgettable scene,” said Lantern Fest co-founder TR Gourley. “This unique experience will become a family tradition for years to come.”
Individuals and families alike can settle in before sunset to decorate their lanterns while participants get their faces painted, roast marshmallows and enjoy live entertainment. After sundown, thousands of biodegradable lanterns will be set aloft. This family-friendly festival promises to be a highlight of the year.
The Lantern Fest partners with a local charity for every event. This year they will donate to Ronald McDonald House of the Intermountain Area, a charity that provides a temporary home-away-from-home that serves and sustains families of children receiving treatment at area hospitals.
“At the Lantern Fest we are committed to providing opportunities for families to get outside,” said event director Spencer Humiston. “We are excited to be working with an organization that serves families in Utah.”
