Children, teens and adults who finished the County Library’s Summer Reading Challenge will get to discover everything the Natural History Museum of Utah has to offer — for free.

Finishers receive a free pass to Library Days at the Natural History Museum of Utah valid on one of the three days listed below. Any Summer Reading Challenge participants who did not finish the program may receive $2 off admission to Library Days. The $2 off admission is good for all County Library card holders through September 30, 2017 — just show your County Library card during regular business hours to receive the discount.

“Summer learning loss negatively impacts students, parents, teachers and the community at large,” said Librarian Nyssa Fleig. “Summer learning gain, through participation in the Summer Reading Challenge and the Library Days celebration, is a win-win for everyone. These programs help keep children, teens and adults exercising their brains during summertime and, most importantly, they make learning fun.”

The last day to sign up for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is July 31; the last day to finish is August 7. More than 52,000 participants have signed up for the County Library’s 2017 Summer Reading Challenge as of July 18. During 2016, nearly 61,000 participants signed up for the program. The program helps stem the summer slide, when kids and adults are challenged less by learning during vacation, leading to decreased brain activity during the summer months.
