Get ready to waddle your way to a fun-filled Saturday. Join Loveland Living Planet Aquarium as they attempt to set the world record for “most people making penguin call simultaneously!” This penguin world record attempt is in honor of World Penguin Day, celebrated on April 25. The Aquarium is celebrating World Penguin Week from April 24-30.

This record has not been previously attempted but the Aquarium plans to set the record, and then challenge other zoos and aquariums to beat it.

The fun doesn’t stop with the world record attempt. Following, kids and adults alike with have a blast waddling to the beat at a Penguin Dance Party until 3:30 p.m.

Gentoo Penguin Facts:

• Gentoos are the third largest penguin species reaching a height of 30 inches and a weight of 12 pounds.
• Gentoos can swim up to 22 miles per hour!
• They can remain below water for up to seven minutes and can dive as deep as 655 feet.
• While Gentoo penguins have stable populations, they do face threats in the wild, including increasing oil exploration around the Falkland Islands and disturbance from tourism. Environmental changes are also affecting food availability in some areas.
