RDT announces 2016-2017 season.

Repertory Dance Theatre recently announced the schedule for the 18th season of Ring Around the Rose, a performance series for children and families at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Each month from September through May, RDT presents a different performing arts group with a “wiggle-friendly” performance. Audience members are invited to participate and each show is very interactive. RDT hopes to introduce young audiences to the performing arts in a fun and approachable way.

Performers range from dance groups (like RDT and Tanner Dance), to theatre groups like Plan-B Theatre, and cultural groups like Tablado Flamenco and story-telling artists from Timpanogos Storytelling. The goal is to give audience members a wide range of performing arts and to highlight RDT’s local partners.

Tickets for a single show are just $5. Audience members can save 30% by purchasing tickets to at least 6 shows on the season with the Ring Around the Rose Flex Package.

Here’s the season schedule:

Sep 10, 2016 – AFRICAN DRUMS

Led by local dance and drum artist Deja Mitchell, audience members will experience the sounds and rhythms of African drums.

Oct 8, 2016 – PLAN-B THEATRE COMPANY

Plan-B premieres “The Edible Complex” before they head out on an elementary school tour. THE EDIBLE COMPLEX is a comedy about ten-year-old Anna, who dreams of being a chef. She is also becoming aware of how her body is different from others at school. So one day she decides to stop eating, but it’s hard to ignore your Food when it starts talking to you!

Nov 12, 2016 – TANNER DANCE

Celebrate the art of modern dance with some of Utah’s most talented young dancers. With over 100 dancers on stage, this beautiful performance is always inspiring.

Dec 10, 2016 – SALTY CRICKET COMPOSERS’ COLLECTIVE

Celebrate the holiday season with an old fashioned sing-a-long! Sing a long with these talented musicians and learn how they compose music.

Jan 14, 2017 – AERIAL ARTS OF UTAH

Fly high with these incredible fabric and trapeze artists! Featuring the newly formed Youth Performing Company (ages 12-17), these aerialist and circus performers will blow you away!

Feb 11, 2017 – DANCE ACROSS THE VALLEY

Explore what makes us all unique with dancers from South Valley Creative Dance, Judge Memorial Catholic High School, and Northwest Middle School. With dancers of all ages from across the valley, the performance is sure to inspire and entertain.

Mar 11, 2017 – REPERTORY DANCE THEATRE

Learn how to create your own dance with the dancers of RDT! After 50 years of creating and preserving modern dance, RDT excels at using dance as a tool for learning.

Apr 8, 2017 – TABLADO FLAMENCO

Experience the movements and rhythms of this Latin-inspired dance with the best Flamenco artists in the state! With dancing, singing, and some incredible live musicians, this phenomenal group has it all!

May 11, 2017 – TIMPANOGOS STORYTELLING

Lose yourself to your own imagination with one of the area’s best storytellers. Wendy Gourley will export you to another world with her intricate and exciting stories!
