Southern Utah’s best loved summer movie series returns to Town Square Park May 27, 2016

If you’re one of our Southern Utah readers, or if you’ll be heading that direction on vacation, you’ll want to check out Sunset on the Square on a Friday evening! Sunset on the Square is now in its 9th year. Southern Utah’s original and most loved summer movie series kicks off on Friday, May 27. The free family-based community event features movies under the stars in the heart of St. George at Town Square Park. Every event features booths, food, face painting, water balloons, lots of prizes and of course, dancing – all before the movie starts. Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month May 27-Aug. 26 will feature exciting themes and lots of extras the crowd will love.

May 27 will be the official start to the biggest season ever, so take along your blankets and lawn chairs and get ready for lots of fun! Join the Kick Off Extravaganza where Cherry Creek Radio Stations will be sponsoring the United Way Dixie Ball Drop and Car Giveaway on site. Attendees who donate to the ball drop will support 17 local nonprofit organizations as 100% of all donations will benefit local charities and each donor will have the chance to win a 2000 Ford Mustang from Premier Car and Truck. Head to Town Square Park starting at 5 pm, buy a ball at one of the participating vendor booths, and enjoy some great music from The Raven Cain Band and 99.1- 101.9 Big Classic Country’s very own John Carter and the Rockin’ Horse Band. Balls are also available online for $5 ball from Unitedwaydixie.org or just $20 for 5 balls. Donations of $100 or more will also receive a gift certificate for services provided by StGeorgeMassage.com.

The Friday night free family movie series plays on a giant outdoor movie screen out under the stars and beautiful Southern Utah skies. Each event is led by local business owner Dawn McLain who explains, “Sunset on the Square has become a staple event in St. George. We’re known for family friendly fun, prizes, movies and so much more. Over the years I have really enjoyed watching our young Sunset on the Square fans grow up, and I look forward to seeing them throughout the summer.”
