The County Library Welcomes Renown Illustrator Ana Aranda for Kids Fiesta

Celebrate Día de los niños at Kids Fiesta with Latina artist and illustrator Ana Aranda at the County Library’s Viridian Event Center on April 28.

“We’re so happy Ana could join our party,” Librarian Anna Zanarini said. “She’s done so much for children with her books and all of her illustrations, and we’re happy she can celebrate with us.”

Aranda was born and raised in Mexico City before moving to Europe. Her illustrations can be found in picture books published in France and Italy. Now based in San Francisco, California, Ana’s US-debut picture book The Chupacabra Ate the Candelabra (written by Marc Tyler Nobleman, Nancy Paulsen Books/Penguin) was released March 2017.

Kids Fiesta is a tribute to El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Day of the Child/Day of the Book) and will take place from 11 am-2 pm. The event will feature free, family-friendly activities and crafts, live music, storytellers in English and in Spanish, piñatas, hands-on learning and more.

El día de los niños/El día de los libros culminates yearly in April to recognize children and families while emphasizing the importance of literacy for individuals of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
