Good Deed Revolution or (GDR), a non-profit changing the world one good deed and story at a time, has just challenged everyone to make the world a little better with just $10 bucks. With so much heartache, negativity and division recently in the news and on social media the GDR team wants to flood the earth with random acts of kindness and inspire others to be the good. Move over ice bucket and 22 pushup challenge here comes the GDR Power of 10!
Here’s how it works. Use $10 to do a good deed for someone else, snap a picture or get video and post it online with the hashtag #GDRPowerof10. Then be sure to tag 10 of your friends to take the challenge. Good Deed Revolution will be sharing the stories on their site and via social media. You can either do the challenge or simply donate $10 dollars to Good Deed Revolution and see what they do it. Better yet, do both, nobody on the GDR team would mind.
We may not be able to do everything for everyone but everyone can something for someone. Right now the world needs more goodness. People need to see that others care and that we can unite as humans!
Imagination is the only limitation when it comes to doing a good deed, but here are a few suggestions for inspiration. It can be as simple as making treat or gift for the next door neighbor, or buying the coffee for the couple next in line at the café. Maybe tape ten $1 bills to a vending machine with a note that says, “Your treat is on me today.” Take a little one to store and have them buy something for his or her sitter, BFF, or teacher. Pick a couple of random addresses out of the phone book (if you can find one) and mail out a few “just because” cards. Add an extra $10 to a server’s tip at a restaurant. Send balloons to a children’s hospital for the nurses to pass out or do something for a first responder. Good Deed Revolution doesn’t care what the deed is as long as you are doing something good for someone else. Whether you do it for one person or 100 people… the sky is the limit!
Through the Power of 10 Challenge Good Deed Revolution hopes to inspire kindness, love, and charity for others. They want to start a movement that reinforces the idea that small deeds matter, GDR Creator Brandy Vega says, “We may not be able to do everything for everyone but everyone can something for someone. Right now the world needs more goodness. People need to see that others care and that we can unite as humans!”
