The Children’s Center and Easy to Love Hold Inaugural Walk for Children’s Mental Health

The Children’s Center and Easy to Love will hold its inaugural Walk for Children’s Mental Health on Saturday, May 6 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The walk will be an opportunity to raise awareness of children’s mental health and celebrate children and families throughout the Wasatch front. Governor Herbert declared May 6 “Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day” to coincide with the walk. The walk is possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Molina.

The walk will be held at Library Square, is free to the public, and no registration is necessary.  The event will begin at 11:00am with the children’s walk beginning promptly at 11:30am. Following the walk, parents can browse resource booths, and there will be craft and activity booths for children. Maize Food Truck will be on hand for food sales, and water and snacks will be on hand for all participants.

“There is such a stigma attached to mental illness and mental health in children seems to be even less understood.  By creating awareness & acceptance we help these children get the services they need and the families find support and understanding,” states Lindsay Bartholomew, of Easy to Love shared.

Detailed information for the walk can be obtained by contacting Leslie Durham at ldurham@tccslc.org or 801-578-2329. Additional information about The Children’s Center can be found at childrenscenterutah.org.

About Easy to Love

Easy to Love was founded by two moms with special needs children. They found that with all the services their children were receiving and struggles they were facing, they quickly lost their community. Easy to Love is dedicated to creating a safe and understanding place at one of our 4 support groups, our online support page and at our various workshops. The organization’s goal is to give that sense of community back to the families we serve.
