Free Star Wars and Harry Potter Strings Concert Benefits Utah Easy to Love

0

The Davis County Celebration Orchestra is combining with the Summer Strings Adventure Camp students to do a benefit concert for Utah’s Easy to Love, which is a non-profit organization that offers support and activities for families who have children with special needs. This is a free event open to the community with a special invitation to special needs families.

Often, it can be difficult for these families to take their special needs children to a concert and enjoy the music. This is an open concert that is very interactive and allows kids to move around and make noise if they need or want to. While there is no admission charge, organizers are hoping to collect enough donations to pay for the production of the concert. Additional funds will be donated to Utah Easy to Love organization to help provide other activities and classes for families.

The Davis County Orchestra will first be playing two numbers, Wizard of Oz medley and a Frozen medley. Then the Summer String students join the orchestra onstage to play Harry Potter followed by Star Wars. The full event is set up for audience interaction. During a section of the Star Wars music, some of the kids will stop playing and pick up glow wands. They’ll be pretending to shoot at the bad guys and have the sound tech add in light saber sounds.

There will be several booths where kids can play and have their faces painted. The Gesames run from 7-7:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. After the concert families can gather to the side of the stage to take photos with Star Wars characters. Donations for the benefit are greatly appreciated from those able to give.
