Local art from illustrators of all ages will line the walls of the County Library’s Bingham Creek branch and explode onto social media during October.
The County Library will take part in Inktober™, a grassroots effort to encourage and improve drawing. Launched by Provo artist Jake Parker in 2009, the initiative now boasts participation from artists world-wide, including comic book artist and illustrator, Mark A. Klein.
Participants will draw a picture every day, and are encouraged to bring it to the Library’s Bingham Creek branch to be displayed, or simply hang it on the refrigerator. The County Library also encourages artists to share their work on social media with the hashtags #thecountylibrary and #inktober2018.
Each Saturday in October, an “artist in residence” will be invited to the Bingham Creek branch to create an Inktober™ drawing, interact with patrons as they watch, and answer questions.
Inktober™ will highlight Salt Lake County’s rich community, and connect residents through art and artistic expression during the festive fall season.

About Inktober™
Inktober™ is a month-long art challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober™ challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online.
