“I Am Jane Doe” Free Film Screening and Panel To Shine Spotlight on Problem of Child Sex Trafficking

0

The Utah Film Center in partnership with the Junior League of Salt Lake City present a free film screening of “I Am Jane Doe”, directed by Mary Mazzio. The film is free and open to the public, with no tickets required.

The film is a chronicle of the epic battle that several American mothers are waging on behalf of their middle-school daughters, victims of sex trafficking on Backpage.com. The film shines a light on child sex trafficking, a gut-wrenching reality that affects every community in America, debunking the myth that this crime only happens in developing countries.

The premiere begins Tuesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Public Library. Immediately following the film, guests will hear from a panel of advocates that are striving to end human trafficking in Utah. The panel includes: Erin Mendenhall (District 5 Salt Lake City Councilwoman, Nubia Pena (Advocacy & Prevention Training Specialist, UCASA), Terry Palmer (National Director of Backyard Broadcast) and moderated by Turner Bitton (Executive Director of Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault).
